J. Kristie Sessoms, LCMHC
About Kristie in her own words.....
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services that I obtained in 1996 from Wingate University, and a Masters of Divinity in Counseling and Chaplaincy from Campbell University and have counseled in that capacity for almost 5 years. I also hold a Master’s of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, where I graduated in 2016. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC #12947).
My background includes behavioral modification work and facilitating grief and loss groups with troubled children and adolescents in a psychiatric hospital. I have also worked with a community agency helping children, adolescents, and adults dealing with depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, life transitions and treating trauma. I have a passion for supporting those within the LGBTQIA community. Additionally, I enjoy helping people to change old patterns, self-limiting beliefs, and habits that have been keeping them from being their authentic self. I work with my clients using an integrating approach attending to the mind, body, and spirit. While my counseling approach is eclectic, allowing me to use elements from many different approaches based on the needs of your unique situation, the majority of techniques used will be cognitive-behavioral in nature as well as mindfulness practices. When it comes to counseling, I believe that approaches and techniques play a large part in the therapeutic process, however, it begins with building trust between the clients and counselor. It is always my goal to create as safe place for empathy and understanding. Kristie is currently accepting new clients aged 7 and older.
She is available to see clients Monday through Thursday. Please call 336-841-4307 to schedule an appointment. |
